Miller County High School is proud to announce its selection as a participant in year two of the Smithsonian Institution’s Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange program. The initiative aims to foster civil discourse and lead students to answer the question: "How has your community played a role in 250 years of the American experiment?"

In preparation for America’s 250th anniversary, the Democracy in Dialogue program will expand to partnerships involving 64 schools, museums, and cultural sites across the United States. To date, Miller County has partnered with schools in Idaho and Illinois, creating and sharing videos on local history and culture as well as sending our northern friends custom postcards and boxes containing peanuts and mayhaw jelly.

The program will continue to feature interactive sessions, encouraging students to communicate their ideas, listen to others, and engage in cultural exchange—skills that are essential for their development as informed citizens. Mr. Freddie Odom, who supervises the program at MCHS and led a Smithsonian summer camp in Alabama over the summer, will report to Washington in January for training as an advanced facilitator.
